No space for standard solution

Challenge

Due to limited space, there is no room for a standard catalogue dimension of the EMR seal/wiper ring in the pneumatic application of an automotive supplier

Solution
In order to be able to present the customer with an appropriate solution, it is necessary to produce a suitable sealing wiper EMR by means of prototype production. Despite the harder HPU compound of the prototypes, the function and ease of movement should correspond to those of a softer moulded part. By reducing the preload on the sealing and wiper lip and modifying the lip geometry, we achieve a satisfactory result for the customer.

Result and conclusion

The design of the prototypes proves to be working as intended. The rising demand now allows for an economically viable serial production as a moulded part. In agreement with the customer the seal is now manufactured via injection moulding in a softer HPU compound.
