OAP
The piston seal set OAP is a mutually acting seal element consisting of an O-ring for the static pressure contact and a PTFE-ring for the dynamic sealing.
The O-ring guarantees the pre-stressing and the necessary elasticity for the seal. Because of its static application, all O-ring compounds can be used. As a consequence a high chemical and temperature resistance can be reached according to the choosing of the material. The known and good qualities of the PTFE material are effective in the dynamic acting slide ring. The static and the dynamic coefficient of friction are almost the same. Thereby a regular, undisturbed movement (no stick-slip) is guaranteed, even at slow surface speeds. After a longer standstill a calm starting is also secured.
ADVANTAGES ARE
- small fitting area
- mounting in closed grooves
- high availability also in intermediate sizes
- universal chemical resistance
- high resistance to temperature
- good dry operation attributes
- high security from extrusion
- small breakaway torques and sliding friction
- no stick-slip even at low speed
- small abrasion
APPLICATION RANGE | |
Working pressure: | ≤ 1,6 MPa (16 bar) Pneumatic |
≤ 25 MPa (250 bar) Hydraulic
Working temperature: | - 35 °C bis + 100 °C |
- 25 °C bis + 200 °C (depending to the O-ring)
Surface speed: | ≤ 4 m/s |
Media: | all hydraulic fluids, e.g. water, oils, water-oil-emulsions, flame-proof hydro-oils, |
environment-friendly pressure fluids (bio-oils) etc. - depending on the O-ring |
We recommend to use guiding elements (e.g. profile F2S, F3S) with this seal. Chiefly in double-sided impinged pneumatic pistons, e.g. in control cylinders, servo-controlled plants and fast closing cylinders.

Slide ring: | PT033 |
O-ring: | NBR-elastomer with approx. 70 Shore A |
MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
To avoid damage to the sealing lip, the seals should not be drawn over sharp edges during installation. In normal case the ODR is mountable on closed pistons from a diameter of 30 mm. The fitting areas are to be deburred and to be cleaned. On special conditions the use of an assembly aid is recommendable.
For special cases of application (high temperatures, speed, specific pressure, use in water, HFA-, HFB-fluids etc.) please get in contact with our consultancy service.
