OEP
The piston rod seal OEP is a double acting seal element consisting of a PTFE-ring for the dynamic sealing (primary seal) and an O-ring as elastic pretension element (secondary seal). The seal effect is produced by the self-pretension of the PTFE-ring and the pressing force of the O-ring. A total seal pressing obtains, which is strengthened with rising system pressure. The static and the dynamic coefficient of friction are almost the same. Thereby a regular, undisturbed movement (no stick-slip) is guaranteed, even at slow surface speeds. After a longer standstill a calm starting is also secured.
ADVANTAGES ARE
- small, simple fitting area
- good availability even in intermediate sizes for diameters up to 2.500 mm
- universal chemical resistance
- high temperature resistance
- good dry operation attributes
- high security from extrusion
- small breakaway torques and sliding friction
- no stick-slip even at low speed
- small abrasion
- mounting in closed fitting areas (> 30 mm piston diameter)
APPLICATION RANGE | |
working pressure: | 40 MPa (400 bar)* |
working temperature: | - 35° to + 200°C (depending on the O-ring)** |
surface Speed: | ≤ 15 m/s axial |
media: | all hydraulic fluids, e.g. water, oils, water-oilemulsions, flame-proof hydro-oils, nvironmentfriendly pressure fluids (bio-oils) etc. - depending on the O-ring |
We recommend to use guiding elements (e.g. profile F3S) with this seal. Chiefly in hydraulic and pneumatic valves, fast closing cylinders, mobile hydraulics, machine tools, pressings, agricultural machines
MATERIAL | |
slide ring: | PT052 |
o-ring: | NBR-elastomer with approx. 70 Shore A |
MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
To avoid damage to the sealing lip, the seals should not be drawn over sharp edges during installation. In normal case the OEP is mountable on closed grooves from a diameter of 30 mm. The fitting areas are to be deburred and to be cleaned. The cylinder liners must own lead-in chamfers. A too strong and irregular extension of the PTFE ring is to be avoided. By applying piston rings up to 100 mm the use of an assembly aid is recommendable.
For special cases of application (high temperatures, speed, specific pressure, use inwater, HFA-, HFB-fluids etc.) please get in contact with our consultancy service.
ORDER EXAMPLE
Piston diameter: 50 mm
ODR 0500 PT052 21N1 C
ODR = | Profile |
0500 = | Piston Ø x 10 |
PT052 = | Compound |
21N1 = | Serial number, Last two digits: O-ring code |
C = | Cross section |
PLEASE NOTE
For special applications it is recommendable to use a sealing cross section, reduced or stepped up, that differs from standard. In these cases replace the standard cross section code (e.g. „C“) by the desired one (e.g. „B“ or „D“).
* At reduced extrusion gap (H7/f7) up to 600 bar.
** At deviations from the standard temperature, please make an enquiry about the O-ring compound.
