The BAR compact rod seal is a combination of a grooved ring with a highly elastic O-ring, which is chambered in the groove of the seal. In this way, the elasticity of the O-ring and the abrasion resistance as well as extrusion resistance of the grooved ring complement each other perfectly. Thus, the pre-tension of the inserted O-ring creates a perfect sealing function even at low pressures and under vacuum, which makes this seal recommended for use in mobile hydraulics. A certain wear of the seal as well as temperature influences can thus also be compensated. As the system pressure increases, the pressure-dependent deformation of the O-ring further increases the contact pressure of the sealing lips. Due to the symmetrical design, the seal can also be used as a piston seal. The SAS version is recommended for axially short installation spaces.

Material
Standard materials:
- Sealing ring: hydrolysis-resistant polyurethane with a hardness of approx. 94 Shore A.
- O-ring: NBR (alternatively FKM, EPDM, MVQ)

Installation instructions
To ensure proper function, the BAR must have play in the axial direction (see table of installation dimensions). To avoid damaging the sealing lips, they must not be pulled over sharp edges. Normally, the BAR is to be installed in closed grooves. In the case of extreme diameter ratios and profile widths, mounting aids should be used or, if the design permits, open grooves should be provided. In special cases of application (high temperature, speed, specific pressure load or use in water, HFA, HFB liquids etc.) please contact our application engineering department.
Area of application
Mainly used in mobile hydraulics, telescopic cylinders, forging presses, pneumatic drills for sealing plungers and piston rods. We will be pleased to submit installation proposals on request.
