Q3R
The compact rod seal profile Q3R is a combination of a fabric reinforced grooved ring (high extrusion security) and a vulcanized rubber seal part (high sealing effect). The sealing edges at the rubber part wipes off the film of liquid on the rod surface due to their radial preload. Therefore an excellent sealing performance is secured, even at low pressures or in case of zeropressure movements.

ADVANTAGES ARE

- very good density at low initial pressures
- many compounds available, NBR, FPM, EPDM
- materials do not tend to the absorption of water (hydrolysis)

Mainly for the sealing of plungers, piston rods (pressings), valve slides; also suitable for valve spools and rotating oil conducts. When choosing a seal for a particular diameter, select the one with the largest possible cross section.

MATERIAL
NBR-, FPM- or EPDM-based elastomers, as well for the rubber as for the fabric part. Special materials by request.

MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
To guarantee a faultless function, the Q3R has to have free play in the axial direction (see table). To avoid damage to the sealing lip, the seals should not be drawn over sharp edges during installation. In normal case the Q3R is mountable on closed grooves.
Assembly aids are to be used at extreme widths of section or proportions of the diameters. Normally the fit should be laid out on H9/f7. A larger gap size at the back of the seal is possible at lower pressures.
